Its Hollywood Bowl Time Baby!

I'm headed out to the Hollywood Bowl to catch a few smooth licks of jazz on a warm summer night. I invited my friend and his lady to join me but they flaked. I love going to the Bowl, just kicking it and or course i always take my lil cooler with whatever floats my boat in it. Usually a 6 of something good,(i took 2 and a bottle of water). The only thing i prefer these days is still "BASS ALE" (when i do indulge)... works for me! I enjoy a excellent brew, especially outdoors on a nice night like this. I totally dig that about the Hollywood Bowl, that you can actually bring in your own wine or drink, or have a lil picnic thing going on. Its all good! Well thats about it, gotta get ready soon so... seeya!

Well i'm back and it was a blast! The Crusaders with Randy Crawford,David Sanborn,Larry Carlton and Stanley Clarke! They all kicked ass! The crowd was a good mix and i was sitting with mostly Black folk. It was cool to get a taste of the groove going on there and the gentleman next to me was interesting and cool. We talked about old school jazz and the such besides other things about life. I'm always glad to meet or experience different styles and cultures of people. Bottom line is, I had fun and it was all good!

I just caught my second concert there and it again was another warm summer night and perfect!
This time is was KCRW's World Music Night and Los Lobos, Kinky and Cafe Tacuba played. The music was really cool and loud and full of energy as were the people all around that packed the Bowl.
Being that the music was mostly in spanish made it more interesting. To see all different types of non speaking people was pretty cool and just reminded me how true it is that music cuts through all kinds of barriers etc.

Of course, i went flying solo and of course took my lil cooler with a six of Bass to which throughout the concert i only had half gone. Bass is pretty strong, more of a enjoyed drinking beer than a just to down kinda typical beer. Ahhh...It just taste so much better when slowly enjoyed (or nursed). I'm actually enjoying one as i write! I think i need to take some munchies on my next quest! I sure wanted to munch on something with that brew. Speaking of munchies, some were sparking up in the back and the breeze filled the air with that wicked skunkweed...yikes! Funny how i noticed those around turning to see who or where that was coming from. It was funny!

Los Lobos rocked the house kicking out some good ol' east los licks. They had everybody singing along on a couple of favorites. I was totally digging it! All in all, i had myself another good time as always and its always regardless who i'm with...or not. It sure don't matter to me, i have fun.

It have to say i was disappointed in myself for not thinking of inviting a good friend of mine. I called her from there durning intermission to ask her if she knew of the other groups playing, and then it dawned on me...Man, i should have asked her to come with me! Angel was working and she was home but i really never gave it a thought! She would have liked it too! Maybe next time, if i remember.
